Today I surprised my husband by putting all his cycling medals in cellophane bags. While I was folding up the ribbons and working on this project, I thought of all the hard work, dedication, training and victories that went into this passion of his.
It brought back good and bad memories. Good ones of us, competing together, winning races like The Argus Cycling tour, SA Championships and many more. Bad ones like having a puncture when we went downhill at 72kmph, getting tired and almost dehydrated on long cycling tours and then also us being hit and run.
We trained hard, cycled hard, after all , champions are made when no one is watching.
It also reminded me of the script 2 Timothy 2:5
An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
It is also like that in our private lives. We have to keep to the rules. We have to keep going, even when things are getting tough. We need to train and keep our eyes on rhe goal. We have to run the race when no one is watching.
Always remember that winners are not people who never fail but people who never quit.
